This was an interesting evening to say the least. Most of the day we spent chilling out and checking out the toys at Outland Records. We had had a not very successful meeting the night before about the layout of the wall that we would paint, and so we came to the wall to make the most of what had been agreed on. Some people were not so happy and threw temper tantrums like two year olds, but we, the Xstreets continued to paint away happily

I am pretty sure that the wall is not yet finished, but hey we did our part very well

As the sun was shining so bright and we had at least 150Euros worth of paint, it was time to make another wall. This time we set out to the Java Eiland to make a nice wall. When we arrived we had seen that the Hulk had been there the night before and separated the two walls.

This meant that we would only have a small space to paint and so we decided to make the letters "XSC" and fill it with some characters. Unfortunately My Ives.One had not slept the previous night and so was a little worse for wear. We managed to make such a lovely banging wall.

First we would like to thank Donna and Rick at the American Book Centre and Treehouse Gallery ( www.abc.nl ) for arranging the Urban Arts Festival Saturday 26th June. We were given a stall to sell some goodies and a freshly latexed white wooden board for us to get wild on.

It was a great day, chilling in the sunshine, making stickers and meeting all kinds of new creative people. We were all together on the Spui square for the day: myself, Skatin Chinchilla and Ives.One representing. The three of us made a lovely collaboration on the wooden wall, but have yet to find a finished picture:)

At 5pm the time we had been waiting for had come, Bustart and Zaira arrived at the Square and it was a joyous reunion. It was time to pack up the stall and head round the corner outside the ABC Treehouse Gallery to start on the first wall of the weekend. We didnt have a great deal of time to do it, so with the five of us going a little crazy, we turned an ugly wall into a wall that all the residents of the street would be proud to see when they woke up every day. Once again, thank you for organising this day.

This day was a sad day as Easyjet cancelled the flight of our Swiss counterparts coming over, and so we would just have to wait 24 hours and we would see them again.

After a quick reunion with Skatin Chinchilla and Ives.One, and evading Airport Security due to Towelie resemblance; Bustart, Zaira and Seifrei headed on to the grey skies of England to represent the Xstreets at Upfest painting Fesitival in Bristol.
Armed and packed with Stickers, Paste-ups and creativity, the guys were ready to hit the streets of Bristol. Big Up to Alias and Owys for accompanying our Swiss Family round the city and also going crazy with paste-ups:)
There was a little cock-up with the cans, a few missng from the order;- "It's not funny to make an 8 layer Stencil with 6 different greys"-(bustart), but the walls turned out brilliantly and our Swiss Family represented us proudly.
At least the sun was shining and the beer was cold. You couldn't ask for much more than that from us English:)

IVES.one at ASA!

IVES.one (Xstreets Collective) is one of the ASA artists that has next week a lot of activities in Amsterdam. From 8-12 of June Amsterdam will be filled with some of the best street artists of the world. Places like the I Amsterdam letters at Museumplein, Bob's Youth Hostel and Flevopark will be painted. Exhibitions are at BEP Gallery, GOG Gallery, The Thought and Outland Store. Parties at De Duivel, Flexbar and Sugar Factory make this festival complete.

Pre-event with IVES.one, Recal.one and Fark this Saturday (the 5th) at shop barrio in the Voetboogstraat (near Spui)!

Also Xstreets member Skatin' Chinchilla will be showing his best piece during this street art week! On thursday the 10th of June he will hang one piece for only one night at De Duivel during the exhibition ASA New Stars. So don't miss it!

On the 26th of June (13:00 - 18:00) there will be the third edition of Urban Arts Festival, but this time much bigger than last year.
Xstreets will sell some handmade stuff on the Spui and will paint live a brick wall in the Voetboogstraat (next to the ABc Treehouse). The members of Xstreets will also customise cardboard furniture from Swiss on the Spui square.

Also on the 9th of April Xstreets provided the visuals and some art at Funk Fest at Badcuyp, Amsterdam. The Dynamite Soul Dj Team was banging with their funky beats and dancers performed their best moves. Check out photos below and here.

The tour along all the BEP windows was a real succes. A lot of people showed up at 21:00 at the first window on Bellamyplein. MC DRT did a good job explaining the art that was exhibited in each window. He made some really nice poems and maked jokes.

At 22:00 the party at Streetlab_ Projectspace/Meneer de Wit started with Dj Samidi behind the dj booth. With the Jameson bar getting everyone free cocktails the 'basement' was in no time full. Free candy was spread. MC DRT and L2N did some wicked performances, and got the crowd crazy. Die Schallplattenpolizei played some funk and Dj Koldun got crazy with his famous jungle beats! What a night!

Last Saturday Xstreets Collective and their photography friends CFYE and Wolfgang Josten opened the exhibition 'Here We Are'. After the opening, with a lot of drinks and bites, we celebrated more during the afterparty next door at Mp3. What a blast!

From Amsterdam to Basel

In just a short flight four Xstreets members ventured from Amsterdam to Basel in Swtizerland to visit our buddies Bustart and Zaira and enjoy a jam packed painting and creative week. The rain that was promised didnt start and we were blessed with beautiful sunshine every day. The day after we arrived we painted at the special Schanzli Jam where we knocked out a wall that was 'picture' perfect, had great music, great atmosphere and awesome people. Big thanks to the Rappartment for the music and the breakdancers for their wicked performance.
Every day brought either a new day painting or successfully and unsuccessfully printing T-Shirts. after many many attempts and a few mishaps it wont be long before they come to a store near you:)
A holiday where we could paint every day, drink beer, chill out with friends and create some awesome pieces of work, seems to fit just about right as the perfect holiday. A huge thank you to Bust and Zai for a brilliant week it was great guys.

Xstreets Free Art Frenzy

While everyone was tucked up in bed or enjoying the last few hours of the evening, three Xstreets members were frenzily cycling around dropping Free Art all over the city of Amsterdam. They began in the red light district, taking a frantic tour in and around the alley ways and streets. They barely had time to leave the second drop when some lucky passer by grabbed the opportunity to take it. Five more lucky people had their picture taken with their new found art. For some it was a little more difficult to understand the concept that they could actually take the art with no strings attached:)
They generated a lot of interest and in particular the Cops seemed to want to know what was going on.
Cop: "We have been informed that you are acting suspicously."
Ives.One: "What is suspicious?"
Cop: "Well, why do you have a camera on the bike. I dont do that. Its not normal."
Ives.One: "We're not normal."
And so it continued for a little while, Skatin Chinchilla pretty oblivious and content with fixing the camera on the front of the bakfiets, Karma83 bricking it slightly and Ives.one craftily making the very large police officer sound incredibly ignorant without him even knowing. After checking details and, to their disappointed, finding no warrants out for their arrests they were free to continue the free art frenzy. If you were out that night or on your way to work in the morning and you found our art, check out the footage and you'll understand how it got there and why it was a great Xstreets Free Art Frenzy!

Bust and Zai in Amsterdam

The Xstreets family holiday here in Amsterdam was a whirl of lasanges and pizzas fit for kings... painting and beers and cycling and more painting and beers and cyclying, with the odd little mischief missions in the night. Friday at the Java Eiland started the weekend of with a banger of a wall. Bust, Zai, Skate, and Ives.one cracked open the spray paint champagne with that one. Saturday was a trip around the town and to the market to make the guys day by buying paint for 3 days for all of us...and so laden with cans we head to an unknown squat building where we find we can paint the outside, (windows and doors included). Things got a little crazy when little monkeys got hold of our markers and started to tag all over the forbidden window....we thought wed better leave them to it...we had more missions to accomplish. The next two days were again spent painting and two really great mural walls came out of it. All in all it was a great Xstreets weekend and with colours of paint flying everywhere we really made the city beautiful this weekend.

Well! it's been a thing with us at 'studio weltevree' to make a website design for x-streets.com that functions well for all of us. Of course we needed to search for the best possible format for the website.

We wanted to make a e-zine with the 'Joomla CMS' which would have all of our profile and photo's! 5 plugins and some tweaking later! The core (CMS with extensions) will be done!

We have made some photo's that will be made in a derivation from Fons' illustration style, only cleaner. Due to the fact those have to resemble the Xstreets painters.

After that we will CSS style a multitude of templates based on illustrations made by the painters! When this is done each Xstreets member can change their own look and feel to the website by a drop down menu for the template!

More updates follow soon!

We will begin testing in the first week of next month!

Last weekend some members of XSTRTS Amsterdam, painted a wall together. Unless the cold there was some sunshine in the city. We decided to make a wall with pieces this time. The only thing was that the POLICE, thought they could arrest us (THE FOOLS) ofcourse we had the license to PAINT (I wish we had one to kill) so after some minutes they dript off like some litlle puppies. So we could finish our wall, wich I think looks great with the black background.

What a day it was my friends and visitors.

Damn OT301 called me sunday morning that the roof was blast off, after we throwed our first and FO SHOW not the last party.

The day started a bit crazy (offcourse) caused of all the stress.

Everybody got a new set of clothes from our new sponsor TRUUS.TRENDY, in the future there will be more info about this collabo

After we built up the CHIELLERIE, the roadshow started. It was quite busy @ nieuwmarket. Our sponsor IMPLIVA, sponsored us some umbrellas we designed and we gave away to visitors.

So with the umbrellas in the air and offcourse like last year we had sunshine. The roadshow was a succes.

At 17:30 the roadshow arrived at the CHIELLERIE, where we opened the show X MARKS THE SPOT. Again with help from our sponsor IMPLIVA. We had the possibility to serve FREE DRINKS, FREE DRINKS!! who was there really for the FREE DRINKS ?

After selling more than 100 raffle tickets, we gave away some awesome prices. The atmosphere was super, everybody turned crazier after every single price :)

At 9:00 we closed the doors of the CHIELLERIE and hiked to the Overtoom for our XSTREETS party. hahaha we never had serious plans for organising party, butt know we not sure about that anymore, because we had a FULLHOUSE, good vibe and even better music.

It all started with FREDEE BRAZIL crazy DJ with his funky combos, the second DJ was FUNKYJUNKIE, who started where FREDEE BRAZIL ended his set. After the set of FUNKIE JUNKIE it was time for our live hip hop gig of MC PYRO and SISTA LIN, I couldn't understand a damn thing of what they said cause they spitt in SWISS-GERMAN, Butt damn they rocked a big show, then it was time for MC DRT and for who knows him he did what we expected, he rocked awesome show. Then it was time for the DIE SCHALPLATTEN POLIZEI to take over and they did, the public turned crazy, so crazy everybody started THE BODY ROCK.The last set was for dj 4WAY he closed the night with some great DRUMM AND BASS. S

In the end when I searched the comfort off my bed I took a look at my friends and I knew it for sure.

IT WAS A BIG SUCCES.

Last Saturday was a great day in the Xstreets Collective History. We did a road show with umbrellas for UmbrellART, had an opening of the Xstreets & UmbrellART gallery show and a party all on that same day! It was a lot of work but it turned out great! Many people showed up and joined us where X Marked The Spot.

We want to thank everybody that supported, sponsored and helped us out that memorabel day and night. The collective did a great job and you can expect more in the future...

XMarks The Spot - Ins & Outs

“X Marks The Spot”, een bijzondere expositie van negen individuen uit binnen- en buitenland.

Op 4 oktober 2008 zetten de leden van het kunstcollectief Xstreets Amsterdam in een creatief daglicht. Amsterdam zal verbaasd opkijken wanneer de straten gevuld zijn met unieke kunstwerken gecreëerd door artiesten wereldwijd.

Road show UmbrellART 'Let it Rain'
Vanaf 15:30 uur vindt de internationale UmbrellART road show plaats waarbij door het centrum van Amsterdam gelopen wordt met veertig handontworpen paraplu's door kunstenaars als Amerikaanse graffitikoning Zimad, straatfilosoof Laser 3.14, kledingontwerpster Merel Boers, Italiaanse kunstenaar Mr. Wany, Italiaanse poppenmaakster Maoma, striptekenaar WZL en stencilartiest IVES.one. Loop mee in deze ludieke tocht en breng de kunst naar de straat waar het voor iedereen toegankelijk is. De road show begint gaat van start om 15:30 uur op de Nieuwmarkt en eindigt om 18:00 uur in de CHIELLERIE op de Raamgracht 58.

Expositie Xstreets
Om 18:30 uur wordt de eerste editie van “X Marks The Spot” spectaculair geopend door met inspirerende modeshow door ILL_Design uit Basel, Zwisterland. Het werk getoond in de galerie van de leden van Xstreets Collective is niet alleen eigenzinnig maar ook zeer hedendaags, en wordt ondersteund door een uniek sponsorship. Hoofdsponsor en Europees paraplu distribiteur Impliva zal tijdens deze gelegenheid, ondersteund door een jury, de artiest met de mooiste paraplu belonen met een eenmalige productie van zijn of haar ontwerp.

X Afterparty
De dag wordt afgesloten met een officiële afterparty in OT301 op de Overtoom. Van 21:00 tot 03:00 kan er worden gefeest op de muziek van Die Schallplattenpolizei, Dj 4Way, Dj Koldun (Funky Junkie), MC DRT, MC SistaLin en MC Pyro. De breakdancers van Soulwarriors zullen op oldskool wijze hun dans technieken laten zien.

SHOW CHIELLERIE

'X marks the spot' will be opened on Saturday the 4th of October at 18.00 in the Chiellerie after the road show that will be held in Amsterdam. The road show starts 15.30 at Nieuwmarkt. Come and walks with us that day! On the opening night will be a fashion show held of ILL_DESIGN from Basel, Switzerland at 19.00. There will be music by several djs and free drinks. The best designed umbrella that is part of the show will be chosen at 19.30 by a professional jury and will be produced exclusively one time only for the artist.

AFTER PARTY
Party with Xstreets & Friends at the 'X marks the spot' official after party. The location and acts will be pronounced at the opening night in the Chiellerie.

Op de catwalk zullen modellen een klederdracht show geven, de modellen zullen met paraplu's uit de umbrellART show lopen als extra fashion item.

Afgelopen Vrijdag hebben IVESone en 't nieuwste lid van XSTREETS MLSS een suiker graffiti gemaakt samen met de artiest die dit fenomeen heeft bedacht Shane Waltener.

Shane was in Amsterdam op uitnodeging van Platform 21, hun hadden IVESone gevraagd om samen met Shane de stad in te gaan om suiker graffiti te maken in Amsterdam.

Ondertussen werden ze gevolg door een journalist van HET PAROOL, het was een gezellige middag

Het FOAM had ons gevraagd om de show van Ryan McGinley op te funken nou das dus ffies gelukt he.

Ok dan het heeft even geduurd maar hier in ieder geval de uitleg over wat LET IT RAIN inhoud,

Het begon allemaal op een regenachtige zomerdag in Amsterdam.
Me creatieve broertje IVES.one een parraplu vond in de tram en dacht HE daar kan ik mooi met me marker een KOOL nieuw design op maken,mteen aan de slag dus die ouwe neluhs, toen het af was dacht hij van HE dat is wel een leuk voor een show!!.
Na een aantal emails aan wat bevriende kunstenaars, die allemaal super enthousiast reageerde onstond het idee voor een outdoor umbrellART show.

Er zijn op dit momemt meer dan 40 artiesten/kunstenaars die zelf een parraplu hebben gedesigned/gefunked.
Met deze parraplu's gaan we zaterdag 6 oktober door Amsterdam lopen we starten op nieuwmarkt om 14.00 uur en zullen van daar door de stad naar westerpark lopen. met deze optocht gaan we aandacht vragen van de mensen op straat voor de KUNST die we weer terug brengen naar de straat, daar waar het eigenlijk ook hoort.

Wij van XSTREETS collective vinden dat kunst benaderbaar en zichtbaar moet zijn voor iedereen, dit betekent dus dat als je op straat loopt je geconfrenteerd hoort te worden met kunst, wat je dan hopelijk aan het denken zet.

Wij vinden ook dat het winstbejag van de maatschapij tegenwoordig zijn doel voorbij streeft.
Daarom hebben wij gekozen voor een vorm waarbij kunstenaars de baas zijn over hun eigen werk en dus zelf hun prijs bepalen, ook vragen wij een vriendelijke bijdrage en doen dus niet aan winstpercentages.
Ook zijn wij van meneing dat de overheid het steeds moeilijker maakt om met mooie en nuttige projecten de stad te veroveren, steeds slingeren ze je in de rompslomp van de bureaucratie wij zijn van mening dat een goed initiatief altijd moet kunnen ook zonder vergunnningen.

het feit is dus dat we streetArt weer terug willen zien op straat, daar waar we begonnen zijn en sommige van ons nog steeds rond sluimeren .

wij financieren deze editie dus uit eigen zak en zonder sponsers.

wij zullen de route zo snel mogelijk bekend maken, maar zo als we al vermeld hebben is er geen vergunning dus we wachten nog een paar dagen met het plaatse

Gister was ik met ome ROBE en ze chica naar de opening geweest van de show van "SHOE" genaam CALLIGRAFFITI.

Het was echt funkievers om te zien hoor mooie leters en gruwelijke woorden die met inkt op papier waren gezet.

Ook was er werk te zien van "HAZE"

Het is nog maar tot zondag dus get your ass of the sofa and get over there jimmy's

het was weer een natte maar een happy avondje cultuur snuiven afgelopen nacht in Almere
de stad waar het zogenaamd allemaal kan (of niet).
